Mencap has partnered with Admiral to launch a dedicated supported employment service for people with a learning disability in Wales.

Backed by Admiral’s investment, the Employ Me Cymru programme will focus on rural mid-Wales, providing job coaching, skills workshops, travel training and practical support to help adults move into paid employment.

Employ Me Cymru is designed to address the employment gap, especially in areas where limited transport and fewer training options make it harder for people to find jobs.

Jon Sparkes, chief executive at Mencap, said: “Together with Admiral, we will open up more pathways into meaningful, paid employment, helping people with a learning disability build confidence, independence and the chance to live their lives to the full.

“This is exactly the kind of partnership that can create lasting change.”

The project will also work with local employers, including Admiral’s teams, to promote inclusive recruitment and help more people into work.

Admiral staff will have opportunities to volunteer, mentor, and raise awareness about inclusive hiring.

Michelle Leavesley, chief sustainability officer at Admiral, said: “Progress means creating opportunity for everyone.

“Through this partnership with Mencap, we’re helping to create meaningful, paid employment that supports independence and wellbeing.

“Together, we’re working to reduce inequality and build stronger, more resilient communities where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.”
