A poll conducted among readers of Workplace Journal found that most respondents want changes to upcoming employment law reforms to better protect workers from insecure work.
The poll showed that 75% backed changing the reforms.
Just 25% said to keep them as they are and no respondents called for stronger rules for contractors and temps.
The findings come as research from Employment Hero suggested the Employment Rights Act could lead to more contract and temporary roles, with one in five small businesses planning to hire more contractors or temps in response to the reforms.
This has raised concerns that more people could find themselves outside traditional employment protections such as sick pay and guaranteed hours.
While the reforms are meant to improve worker security, some business leaders said the changes are too complex or costly, leading to increased use of flexible staffing.
