Amey has held another Journey to Work event in Trafford, working with Trafford Council to help local residents find jobs.
The event took place on 16th April at St John’s Centre in Old Trafford and was aimed at people out of work, including those referred by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and Trafford Jobs Club.
Jobseekers got help with CVs and took part in one-to-one careers conversations with Amey’s senior management.
Attendees were able to find out about vacancies in grounds maintenance and street lighting operations, see what the jobs involved, and learn how their skills could match roles at Amey.
Staff from Amey’s local services team joined to share their career stories, talk about projects in Trafford, and explain what it is like to work in maintaining green spaces and keeping streets well lit.
Informal chats gave residents a chance to ask questions and get a better understanding of available roles.
Ifan Hembrough, senior social impact recruiter at Amey, said: “It was brilliant to see so many Trafford residents attend and engage throughout the day.
“By creating a relaxed, community‑based setting, we were able to have open conversations about real opportunities, and the steps people can take towards employment.
“Events like this show the value of working closely with local partners, helping people feel more confident about their next move while supporting local services to build strong, local teams.”
