Wiltshire Council’s Cabinet has approved plans to use £10.4m in Government funding to deliver the Connect to Work Supported Employment Programme across Swindon and Wiltshire.

The programme, funded by the Department for Work and Pensions, will run until 2030 and aims to help residents with health conditions, disabilities or other complex barriers move into long-term work.

It will provide one-to-one help for thousands of people, including job matching, working with employers on inclusive recruitment, and support for those at risk of losing their job.

The scheme will also work closely with health, care and community services and will not add costs to the council’s core budget.

Councillor Jon Hubbard, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, SEND, Education and Skills, said: “Connect to Work is about helping people who want to work but face real barriers to do so.

“This programme offers personalised, practical support that recognises people’s strengths and works alongside employers to create meaningful, sustainable job opportunities.

“It’s a very positive step for residents, businesses and our wider communities. We look forward to receiving referrals from external partners as soon as possible.”
