Connect to Work launches in Wales to provide tailored job support

Funding has been confirmed for 16 areas across England and Wales, including Mid Wales, North Wales and South West Wales.

Connect to Work services have launched in Wales, offering tailored employment support to disabled people and those with health conditions in Mid Wales, North Wales and South West Wales. 

The programme is part of the Government’s Pathways to Work initiative, aimed at helping disabled people and those with health conditions find jobs. 

Funding has been confirmed for 16 areas across England and Wales, including Mid Wales, North Wales and South West Wales.

Mid Wales will receive up to £3.9m to help 1,000 people into work. 

North Wales has been allocated up to £13.3m, offering tailored support to 3,550 people.

South West Wales will get up to £14.4m for 3,850 participants. 

This expansion brings the total investment in the programme to over £950m.

Connect to Work focuses on providing one-to-one employment support in community settings such as parks and cafes.

The support is personalised, with individual coaching from employment specialists, job matching services and ongoing help for both participants and employers.

Minister for Employment Diana Johnson, said: “This government believes in the potential of every person in every part of the UK.

“That’s why I’m delighted to confirm funding for three of the four delivery areas in Wales, and it’s fantastic to see two of those areas already open and supporting participants.

“For too long, too many people have been written off and left behind.”

Johnson added: “Connect to Work changes that – giving people real, tailored support to move into good jobs and out of poverty. 

“That’s what spreading opportunity means in practice.”
