Sapia.ai has launched a new artificial intelligence (AI) chat tool designed to increase transparency in recruitment, as scrutiny grows over how AI is used in hiring decisions.
The new feature, Ask Sapia.ai, allows both employers and candidates to question how AI systems assess applicants, score performance and determine hiring recommendations.
Positioned as a “glass box” alternative to traditional “black box” AI models, the tool enables users to explore how hiring decisions are made in plain language.
Users can ask about candidate evaluation methods, fairness and bias testing, data usage and the research underpinning the platform.
The launch comes as many organisations continue to adopt AI hiring tools based on limited visibility into how they function, often relying on claims of fairness and accuracy that are not independently interrogated.
At the same time, candidates frequently report low trust in recruitment processes that lack transparency.
Barb Hyman, founder and CEO of Sapia.ai, said: “Ask Sapia.ai reflects our belief that AI in hiring should not be trusted by default; it should be understood.
“Organisations should be able to ask how an AI system works, what it measures, how fairness is tested, and why recommendations are made.
“With Ask Sapia.ai, people don’t need to take our word for it, they can ask the system directly and explore the answers for themselves.”
