Superdrug and the Pharmacists’ Defence Association (PDA) union agreed their first annual pay settlement after signing a recognition agreement in December 2025.

The pay review covered several changes, with all updates effective from 1st April 2026.

Annual pay for foundation trainee pharmacists is set to rise to £30,000.

All eligible pharmacists in the bargaining unit will see a 3.0% increase to their basic pay, with the same uplift applied to all pay bandings for those roles.

Starting salaries for newly qualified pharmacists will stay at £50,000 for a 45-hour full-time equivalent contract.

Pharmacy managers with more than one year’s post-registration experience will have a new minimum salary of £55,000.

Any pharmacy manager reaching one year’s post-registration experience before the next pay review will get the increase in the month after their anniversary.

The annual supplement for senior pharmacy managers will go up from £1,500 to £1,750.

Management will also provide clarity to all pharmacy managers about the senior pharmacy manager role and what is required to become one.

All mandatory training and nationally commissioned service training must be completed in paid time.

Both negotiating teams thanked each other for a positive process and highlighted a shared commitment to Superdrug’s pharmacy business.

They also thanked pharmacists for their continued professional commitment and hard work looking after patients.
