Simplyhealth has been recertified as a B Corporation, increasing its score from 91.9 to 108.4, the organisation announced on 27th November.
The company, which provides health plans and healthcare services and operates the Denplan dental payment brand, remains the only UK health plan provider to hold B Corp status.
The recertification follows an assessment by B Lab, the nonprofit organisation that verifies B Corporations based on standards covering social and environmental performance, governance and transparency.
The process also requires businesses to legally embed wider stakeholder considerations into their decision-making.
According to Simplyhealth, improvements were recorded across all five B Lab impact areas: Customers, Governance, Workers, Community and Environment.
Developments since the company’s original 2022 certification include expanded wellbeing and career development programmes, new customer engagement frameworks, increased community volunteering activity, cost-of-living support for employees, and environmental initiatives such as zero waste to landfill and broader greenhouse gas reporting.
Paul Schreier, CEO at Simplyhealth, said: “Over the past three years, we’ve made meaningful progress in countless ways, and our stakeholders tell us they can see and feel the positive health impact we deliver every day.
“The B Lab team also recognised this during our recent recertification, where, after a rigorous assessment, we were thrilled to see our B Corp score rise from 91.9 to an outstanding 108.4.
“We are immensely proud of this achievement, but more importantly, it reflects our ongoing journey of impact and improvement. This milestone is the result of the dedication, innovation, and investment of our teams across Simplyhealth and Denplan.
“Every day, our colleagues share inspiring stories of how we’re simplifying healthcare to meet the real challenges people face, and this certification reinforces that commitment and our positive impacts.”
