Deloitte has launched its summer vacation scheme, with 460 university students joining 15 UK offices for paid work experience starting 30th June.
The scheme is aimed at students in the penultimate year of their degree and gives them the chance to experience roles in audit and assurance, tax and legal, strategy, risk and transactions advisory, and technology and transformation.
Some students may also be offered a place on the graduate scheme.
Students will take part in client work and team projects, building skills in teamwork, confidence and communication.
Richard Harries, who was promoted to partner in Deloitte’s tax business earlier this month in Leeds, previously completed the summer vacation scheme in 2009.
Harries said: “I’m a huge fan of our Summer Vacation Scheme. It’s more than just an internship; it provides a lasting impression of our firm’s culture and the people who make it thrive.
“I was studying Financial Economics at University of Liverpool at the time, and thanks to the Summer Vacation Scheme I realised how much I enjoyed tax, and I took the opportunities on offer to make the most of my time on the programme.
“The connections and bonds you make have been instrumental to my success at Deloitte.”
Jackie Henry, managing partner for people and purpose at Deloitte, said: “Each year, we see hundreds of bright, talented and motivated young people join our Summer Vacation Scheme and I’m looking forward to seeing the new faces across our offices this summer.
“I find it incredibly inspiring seeing the students develop valuable career skills, get stuck into client projects and grow in confidence as the weeks go on.
“I wish each student all the best this year and I encourage them to make the most of this wonderful opportunity.”
