easyJet is set to open a new aircraft maintenance hangar at London Luton Airport, creating over 30 engineering and maintenance jobs.

The facility, due to start operating in 2026, will also host an apprenticeship training campus for up to 40 new engineering apprentices each year.

The hangar will house more than 130 easyJet staff who will manage and oversee aircraft maintenance activities.

It will join the airline’s other engineering hangar facilities in Luton, Gatwick and Liverpool, and is expected to support the maintenance of easyJet’s fleet of over 355 aircraft, including 190 UK-registered planes.

Brendan McConnellogue, director of engineering and maintenance at easyJet, said: “Opening another hangar facility in Luton will play a critical role in supporting our continued growth in the UK and in delivering an industry leading operational performance as we continue to welcome more modern, fuel-efficient aircraft into our fleet.

“The creation of these additional roles gives more engineers the opportunity to join our great team at Luton.

“Not only are we committed to investing in our operations to continue providing great service for our customers, but we’re equally as committed to investing in skills.”

McConnellogue added: “As well as the creation of many skilled job opportunities, we are delighted that this new hangar is enabling us to launch our easyJet apprenticeship training campus, offering a new centre of engineering and maintenance excellence for even more aspiring engineers to launch their careers with us.”
