Local employers in North Somerset have been urged to book free heart health checks for their staff before the end of May.

The offer comes from North Somerset Council’s Better Health Healthy Workplaces team, working with Pier Health Group as part of a national cardiovascular disease (CVD) health checks pilot.

Nearly 1,000 checks have already been completed with more booked in, but spaces remain for workplaces to take part.

Jenna Ho Marris, executive member for public health at North Somerset Council, said: “I’m delighted so many local workplaces have already taken up this vital, free offer.

“The companies which have taken part have really welcomed these checks are free and tell us it makes their staff feel valued.

“We still have some spaces left for workplaces to take up this opportunity before the end of May, so please get in touch with our healthy workplaces team to book your workplace in!”

The checks are offered to people aged 30 and over who do not already have a heart condition and the scheme is open to all workplaces in North Somerset.
