The Personal Finance Society (PFS) has received over 400 expressions of interest in its Pathway to the Profession Initiative.

The scheme, launched in July, is backed by a £1m investment aimed at attracting and supporting new talent in the financial planning sector.

Of this, £200,000 is being used to support 500 students to take the financial protection (R05) module, which is the first step towards a diploma in regulated financial planning.

Students on the pathway will also receive free PFS membership.

The R05 module is a recognised financial planning qualification focused on financial protection and aims to build financial literacy skills.

Successful candidates will get access to member benefits, including CPD events, networking and mentoring.

There are 500 spaces available on the initiative and the PFS has encouraged financial planning professionals to share the opportunity in their networks to help grow the sector.

Carla Brown, president of the PFS, said: “It’s fantastic to see such a positive response to the investment the PFS has made in attracting and nurturing talent with the Pathway to the Profession initiative.

“Over 400 expressions of interest in getting started with the Financial Protection (R05) module is a big win, especially as many of these individuals are currently employed in other sectors, or returning to work after a career break.

“With spaces still remaining, we would like to encourage the wider professional community to share this opportunity within their networks, to support the growth and longevity of our sector.”
