Howden has named Carla Hammond (pictured) as chief financial officer for Howden Health & Employee Benefits (HEB) and Barnett Waddingham (BW).

In her new role, Hammond will oversee financial strategy, governance and performance across the combined UK employee benefits arm, while also providing oversight for HEB’s international operations as Howden continues to scale its global footprint.

Hammond joins from Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL), where she spent 18 years in senior finance leadership roles, most recently serving as head of finance for the UK & Ireland.

Her background spans the UK, EMEA and US, with a record of reshaping finance functions and tightening internal processes to support organisational growth.

Her arrival comes as Howden continues integrating BW, following its April 2025 acquisition that formed a 4,000-strong global advisory operation generating more than £500 million in combined revenues.

Glenn Thomas, CEO, UK health and employee benefits and global practice leader at Howden, said: “Carla’s international experience will be a real advantage as we push ahead, particularly with our growth plans in the United States.

“She also brings the steady financial leadership we need as we continue to bring BW and HEB closer together and build one business, together.

“With Carla on board, we’ll stay focused, disciplined and in great shape for the next stage of our growth.”

Hammond said: “I’m incredibly excited to join the Employee Benefits team at Howden during this pivotal time in its growth journey.

“The energy and passion from everyone I’ve met has been inspiring, and I’m thrilled by the opportunity to ensure finance acts as a strategic partner to drive the business forward.”

Andrew Vaughan, senior partner at Barnett Waddingham, added: “Carla’s appointment marks another important step in building a stronger, unified employee benefits business across BW and Howden.

“Her blend of commercial focus and financial discipline will be invaluable as we continue aligning our operations and delivering greater value for clients. We’re delighted to welcome her and look forward to working closely together.”
