Stockport Council has partnered with GM Business Growth Hub to offer targeted support to adult social care businesses in Stockport.

The support, which is also backed by STAR Procurement, NHS Professionals, and AfterAthena law firm, includes six online sessions and access to one to one support.

The programme is fully funded and focuses on helping care providers adapt, grow and build resilience in the sector.

The sessions are aimed at those running or managing care homes, domiciliary services, supported living organisations and community health businesses.

Each session is delivered online, offering expert insights, practical tools and interactive elements.

Yvonne Sampson, head of enterprise and growth at GM Business Growth Hub, said: “Working with the council and other partners mean we can give Stockport providers real tangible advice and support for how to make the most of both challenges and opportunities, that’s tailored to where they are and the communities they work in.”

The programme follows a recent event encouraging young people in Stockport to consider careers in health and social care, organised by Stockport Council and Stockport NHS Foundation Trust.

Councillor Helen Foster-Grime, Cabinet Member for Health, Wellbeing and Adult Social Care at Stockport Council, said: “By working closely with our health and social care providers we can together deliver high-quality, accessible services that empower residents to live with dignity and choice and reflect the changing needs of our communities — always with a focus on prevention, early help, and continuous improvement.

“Here in Stockport we have an ageing population and our goal is simple: we are shaping a future where everyone – regardless of age, circumstance, or background — can live well, independently, and with dignity in Stockport.

“These sessions will support those health and social care organisations who have ambitions to grow – but will also provide support to help tackle the significant challenges the sector faces across our region and the UK.”
