HM Land Registry (HMLR) has received a Princess Royal Training Award for its Land Registration Academy, a programme credited with upskilling thousands of staff and strengthening the organisation’s capacity to deliver services.
Launched in 2021, the Academy was created to address the impact of losing experienced staff and to build long-term career paths for new and existing employees.
Since then, more than 4,000 staff have taken part in training and development through the scheme, which has contributed to HMLR surpassing its target of processing 95% of outstanding applications within 12 months by March 2025 — a milestone achieved ahead of schedule.
The Princess Royal Training Awards, now in their 10th year, honour organisations that demonstrate outstanding commitment to learning and development. This year, 57 organisations across sectors such as construction, hospitality, education, the public sector and not-for-profit received the award, following 143 applications.
The recognition highlights the wider impact of the Land Registration Academy in providing staff with technical training, structured career progression and improved confidence in their roles, while supporting HMLR’s operational performance.
Ange Clarkson, deputy director of service delivery at HM Land Registry, said: “We are thrilled to have met the standard of excellence set by the Princess Royal Training Awards.
“This recognition is a testament to the dedication of our people within the Land Registration Academy and across HMLR in building confidence, skills and expertise, especially when assessed against prestigious organisations in both the public and private sector.”
