Ryan FowlerSearches for business innovation have risen 69% across Europe in the past quarter, reflecting growing interest in creativity, technology and fresh thinking.
Against this backdrop, Adobe Express has published new rankings of the most innovative cities in the UK and Europe, based on factors such as university standings, Wi-Fi speeds and tech job availability.
London leads the UK list with a total score of 74.29, supported by Imperial College London’s global ranking of second place and a workforce in which more than 57% of job listings are in tech.
Southampton follows with a score of 65.06, aided by 72.9 tech jobs per 100,000 people, strong connectivity and the University of Southampton’s global ranking of 80th.
Bristol takes third place with 53.51, supported by 144.6 tech jobs per 100,000 people and the University of Bristol’s position of 54th worldwide.
Manchester ranks fourth with a score of 50.02, reflecting the highest proportion of tech jobs in the UK at 187.9 per 100,000 and the presence of the University of Manchester, ranked 34th globally.
Brighton and Hove completes the top five, achieving 42.27 overall, with an innovation index score of 141.3 underlining its strength as a hub for creative industries.
In Europe, Amsterdam heads the ranking with a total score of 78.91, followed closely by Zurich at 77.07, Copenhagen at 72.72, Stockholm at 70.02 and Dublin at 68.84. The study found that each of these cities combines education, digital infrastructure and strong job markets to support their innovative status.
