Associated British Ports (ABP) has become the first port operator to buy The Scarlett Box, a menstrual care kit made for maritime workplaces.
The Port of Southampton will be the first site to use the kit.
The kit is designed to meet the needs of staff working at sea, with water-resistant sealed products for safety and hygiene.
Scarlett Barnett-Smith (pictured, left), founder of The Scarlett Box Ltd, said: “My passion for maritime is at the heart of this business.
“When I introduced the prototype at London International Shipping Week, the product gained huge interest from large shipping groups, port operators and product providers, all ready to make orders.
“I am delighted that ABP, as the UK’s largest port operator, is leading the way as the first port operator to officially introduce The Scarlett Box.”
Barnett-Smith added: “With the goal to change the industry for the better – one Scarlett Box at a time – this product ensures dignity, safety and preparedness for women at sea, and I’m thrilled to see ABP championing the change.”
