Mitie secures Manchester Airport contract extension, creating new jobs

Mitie has secured a multi-million-pound contract extension with Manchester Airports Group to deliver facilities management services at Manchester Airport for a further seven years. 

The deal covers engineering, decarbonisation, cleaning and hygiene, and pest control, supporting daily airport operations and the ongoing expansion of Terminal 2.

The contract extension has created 32 new jobs, joining the 350 Mitie staff already working at the airport. 

As part of the contract, Mitie will use electric vehicles to move materials and has introduced an electric jet washing van for cleaning terminal fronts. 

Mitie engineers will maintain mechanical and electrical systems like ventilation, air conditioning, fire alarms, fire suppression, and emergency public address systems. 

Cleaning teams will use Mitie’s Merlin platform, which provides health and safety updates, task notifications, and equipment reports. 

Other services include plumbing, washroom hygiene, window cleaning, and pest control.
