Maintenance and compliance software specialist r2c has launched a time recording feature, helping automotive workshops boost employee efficiency.

The feature allows technicians to log hours for individual jobs, giving fleets a clearer view of labour costs, and allowing workshop managers to see job over-runs and bottlenecks, identifying issues before costs escalate.

Ash Connell, commercial director at r2c, said: “Time Recording launches at an important time for workshops, which are under increasing cost and taxation pressures.

“By providing transparency and real-world data, they can make better decisions when it comes to running their workshops in the most efficient way possible.”

Time recording also offers opportunities for employee development, by understanding the efficiency of individual technicians – helping support under-performers.

The software also helps with performance reviews, and assigning workload fairly.

Connell said: “Our extensive experience shows that workshops are consistently under-estimating the true labour costs of their operations, so we’ve developed Time Recording to highlight the time and cost saving benefits that are available through using a digital workshop management system.

“It will also prove to be a valuable tool in monitoring employees, helping to identify stand-out staff and those who need more support.”

The firm currently provides connected software to more than 100,000 UK users, across 1,600 workshops, with products ranging from digital jobsheets to a walkaround check app, as well as invoicing software.
