Currys reported that two of its leaders have been recognised for the second year in a row in the ‘Role Models for Inclusion in Hospitality, Travel, Leisure and Retail Index produced by WiHTL & Diversity in Retail (DiR), in partnership with the MBS Group.
Paula Coughlan, chief people, communications and sustainability officer, and Michelle Gorringe-Smith, director of new business, were named as advocates for change for their work on inclusion and diversity in the retail sector.
Coughlan said: “I believe that inclusion helps lift performance even higher by creating an environment where everyone feels a sense of belonging, connectivity and is able to contribute and be their very best.”
Gorringe-Smith said: “It’s important to listen and learn how our different communities want to be heard, represented and included, and to be a supportive role model enabling change to happen.”
The index featured over 50 role models from a range of job roles and functions, highlighting the significance of inclusion in the workplace.
Alex Baldock, CEO at Currys, said: “At Currys we’re committed to creating an inclusive culture where everyone feels they belong and can be at their best, and where diversity is seen as a strength.
“It’s great to see both Paula and Michelle recognised for their significant contribution to that culture, which plays a fundamental role in Currys’ business success, and for driving positive change through their leadership.”
Tea Colaianni, founder and chair of WiHTL & DiR, said: “I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to all those featured in the ‘2025 Role Models for Inclusion in Hospitality, Travel, Leisure and Retail Index’.
“Each Role Model featured in the Index is an inspiring advocate for meaningful and positive change.
“The true impact of the Index lies in sharing their powerful stories and amplifying their extraordinary work, thereby inspiring action in others far beyond their own organisations and communities.”
