Hounslow Council will host a free apprenticeship and jobs fair for young people at Hounslow House on 10th February.
The event, marking National Apprenticeship Week, will bring together local employers, education and training providers from a range of industries.
Organisations attending include West London NHS Trust, West Thames College, The King’s Trust, National Physical Laboratory, NatWest, Cisco and Ajar Technology.
The morning session will run from 10am to 12pm for Year 10 to 13 students from secondary schools in the borough and West Thames College.
The afternoon session, from 1pm to 3pm, is open to all young people aged 16 and over seeking work or training.
This includes young people with SEND and care experience.
Families and carers are also invited.
Opportunities at the fair will include apprenticeships, volunteering roles and training courses.
Advisors from the council will offer support with applications.
Councillor Samia Chaudhary, Cabinet Member for Education, Children, Skills and Employment at Hounslow Council, said: “Young people can benefit enormously from apprenticeships where they can gain real work experience while studying for qualifications ranging from foundation to degree level.
“Alongside apprenticeships, there are many options such as volunteering and training that can help young people take their first steps towards achieving their education and employment goals.
“Our youth skills and employment guarantee programme, launched in 2023, has supported about 4,000 young people to overcome challenges in accessing and progressing in skills, training and employment.”
Chaudhary added: “We’re committed to unlocking their full potential and empowering them to thrive.”
