Safety in Manufacturing Plastics (SIMPL) has launched a new five-year health and safety strategy aimed at improving workplace safety, health and wellbeing in the polymer manufacturing sector.

The initiative is a partnership between trade associations, employers, trade unions, equipment manufacturers, training organisations and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

The health and safety strategy focuses on three areas: competence, accident and incident investigation, and mental health and wellbeing.

It aims to help companies reduce accidents and ill health, improve basic safety standards, strengthen leadership and management, and build workforce competence.

SIMPL will support members with guidance, regular bulletins, events and training resources.

The programme encourages member companies to sign a five-year pledge to show their commitment.

A free online training course with three modules is being developed to help companies deliver the health and safety strategy’s objectives.
