EE staff have pledged a record 45,000 hours to support local causes as this year’s national Community Challenge gets underway.
Nearly 40,000 employees from retail and contact centres are involved, aiming to beat last year’s total of over 35,000 hours.
The Community Challenge covers EE’s contact centres and more than 400 stores across the UK.
Staff have pledged to help with projects such as educating students, parents and teachers on online safety.
This follows EE’s rollout of online safety appointments in stores, where in-store guides have completed 5,000 hours of training to advise parents on managing children’s digital wellbeing.
The Community Challenge runs until the end of the year, with volunteers aiming to set a new record for hours dedicated to supporting local communities.
Alan Howard, director of stores in the North at EE, said: “Our customers and communities are front and centre of everything we do at EE.
“In each of our stores and contact centres is a team of EE Guides who are not just experts in connected technology, but passionate members of their communities, keen to share their expertise with anyone who can benefit from it.
“I’m so proud of every person, whether in a customer-facing role in our stores and contact centres, or behind the scenes, who is giving their time and expertise to help.”
EE is also offering free, 30-minute online safety sessions at its stores across the UK, where families can get practical advice and support on managing device use and encouraging safe online habits.
