Milton Keynes City Council is set to launch a scheme to help residents with disabilities, health conditions or complex needs find work.
The council will work with others in the region to deliver the Connect to Work scheme, which is backed by Government funding and could support over 1,500 local people in the next five years.
Residents joining the scheme can get up to 12 months of one-to-one help to secure a job.
A specialist team will match people with employers based on their skills and needs to make sure the roles are suitable.
The scheme also offers access to training courses and other services to build confidence and improve employability.
The council will make a formal decision on 30th September to join the partnership with other councils, with about £5m in grant funding available for the scheme.
Councillor Joe Hearnshaw, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People at Milton Keynes City Council, said: “Finding a job can be hard work when you have additional needs and are being sidelined.
“This scheme is about breaking down barriers and ensuring that more local people can make the most of their own unique skills.
“We want to build new connections between residents and employers, and make sure everyone has the right support so that more people can find the rewarding and long term work they want.”
