In its aim to achieve net zero by 2040, Phoebus Software Ltd has reduced its carbon footprint by a 69% since 2021.

Central to this achievement was the company’s emphasis on employee training, development, and engagement as part of its broader environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategy.

The progress was detailed in Phoebus’ third annual ESG report, which highlighted the company’s 2023 accomplishments and outlines a five-year plan for sustainable growth.

A key highlight included the reduction of the company’s carbon footprint from 1,746.8 tCO2e in 2021 to 547.5 tCO2e in 2023 – a 1,199 tCO2e decrease.

This represented a 66% reduction since 2022 alone.

Phoebus credited much of its success to its strategic focus on training and workforce engagement.

In 2023, the company invested heavily in carbon literacy training for its executive team, empowering leadership with the knowledge and tools to make impactful, sustainable decisions.

Additionally, the rollout of service excellence training across the business aimed to enhance overall employee performance and align the team with Phoebus’ ESG objectives.

These training initiatives are part of a larger effort to foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

The company also reported a 9% decrease in attrition rates, attributing the improvement to enhanced employee wellbeing, development, and engagement programs.

Adam Oldfield (pictured), CEO of Phoebus Software, said: “I am proud of Phoebus’ unwavering commitment to sustainability, community, and employee wellbeing.

“Our strong governance ensures we have the right policies in place to support our business and clients.

“Community engagement continues to be at the heart of Phoebus.

“We’ve strengthened our partnerships with local schools, universities and charities, positively impacting Birmingham Children’s Hospital’s patients and families.

“Feedback from our employees shows that they feel cared for and valued, reflecting our commitment to an inclusive and supportive workplace.

“Our dedication to continuous improvement and innovation drives our approach to ESG.

“Transparency and integrity guide us as we work towards a sustainable future for our clients, colleagues, environment and communities.”
