TransPennine Express (TPE) has partnered with recruitment platform ivee, which supports people returning to work after a career break.
The platform, set up by sisters Lydia Miller (pictured, left) and Amelia Miller (pictured, right), vets employers to ensure advertised jobs are flexible and inclusive.
TPE said its flexible approach has attracted more women into rail, with 22% of its engineering team being women, above the UK average of 16.5%.
The operator offers flexible working, including bank holidays that can be taken at different times and job shares in frontline roles.
Nicola Buckley, people director at TPE, said: “At TPE, we’re proud to create a workplace where flexibility and opportunity go hand in hand.
“We know life doesn’t follow a straight line, so we aim to support colleagues through different stages — whether that’s returning from a career break, balancing family life, or trying something new in rail.
“Partnering with ivee helps us reach even more talented people who might not have considered a career in the railway before.”
Amelia Miller said: “We’re genuinely excited to be partnering with TPE – they’re showing what it means to be forward-thinking when it comes to supporting people back into work.
“Flexible working and creating opportunities for returners aren’t just nice-to-haves, they’re essential if we want to open doors to the talent that’s so often overlooked.
“That’s exactly the kind of change ivee was built to drive, and it’s brilliant to be doing it alongside a partner like TPE.”
