The Code Zone launches employee benefit to upskill the next generation

The Code Zone has launched their new Future Makers Initiative, a programme that enables employers to provide coding clubs and digital skills training as a family-friendly employee benefit.

With demand for tech skills outpacing supply, this initiative gives companies the opportunity to support their staff and invest in the future workforce at the same time.

The Future Makers Initiative will address two pressing challenges: the urgent need for children to gain digital literacy and problem-solving skills, and the growing expectation for workplaces to provide meaningful family support.

Research showed that nearly 60% of children are not pursuing computing qualifications, despite the UK tech sector being one of the fastest growing in Europe, now worth over £1.3tn.

At the same time, surveys revealed that more than 70% of working parents value employers who offer family-focused benefits.

Through the Future Makers Initiative, companies can partner directly with The Code Zone to give employees’ children access to coding clubs and the organisation’s award-winning Game Dev Academy.

Children receive weekly games designed by mentors, complete coding challenges at their own pace, and get one-to-one support through interactive video and messaging.

Each membership also includes access to Minecraft Mod Worlds, The Code Zone’s own Minecraft-based learning platform.

Employers who join the initiative benefit from co-branded materials, discounted subscriptions, and regular reports showcasing the impact on participating families.
