Marking World Youth Skills Day, Frank Jaquez pointed to the need for a balanced approach, combining digital knowledge with abilities such as critical thinking and communication.
Susi Miller said: “As AI platforms and tools evolve, there is a real risk that learning moves forward in a way that leaves people behind.”
It will include a research challenge programme, executive education, postgraduate internships, scholarships and an endowed chair.
Pat McFadden said: “Through our apprenticeship reforms, we are creating genuine pathways into the high-skilled, high-growth industries that AI is creating."
Apprentices worked with the AI and innovation team to learn about agentic AI and were tasked with designing and building their own AI agents.
64% of employees thought having up-to-date digital, technical or artificial intelligence (AI)-related skills gave them a distinct advantage.
Research from Insights Learning and Development with the ATD found 94% of learners said personalisation is important and 64% saying it is extremely important.
Kate Hawthorn, director of consultant talent at FDM Group, said: "Traditional hiring can’t keep pace with technology, making apprenticeships a critical solution."
Data revealed that only 32% said they had received training or resources to help them use AI at work.
The programme aims to build practical AI skills, confidence, and an ethical understanding of the technology.
The aim is to give all students workplace-ready skills, support teaching and research, and close the digital divide with access to advanced AI tools.
