The Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management (IWFM) Academy has launched a level 6 strategic leadership programme for workplace and facilities management professionals.

The course is aimed at those who want to develop their leadership skills and help raise the profile of the sector.

The programme will cover a range of topics, including technology, sustainability, and human-centric design in the built environment.

It is open to 15 people, with the first group starting in January 2026.

Those who complete the course will receive a level 6 qualification, which is equivalent to degree level.

The programme includes independent study, guided activities and tutor-led workshops.

Emma Bellingham, head of academy at IWFM, said: “For too long, we’ve seen that the role of workplace and facilities leaders has been under-recognised, with departments perceived as a cost centre rather than as a vital business pillar.

“We know that WFM delivers huge value to an organisation and its people, which is why we’ve created a programme to equip WFM leaders with the strategic skills to transform the way our profession is perceived.”
