Mountain Warehouse has partnered with the Retail Trust to support the mental health and wellbeing of its 4,500 colleagues in the UK, Europe, New Zealand, Australia and North America.

Staff now have access to a range of wellbeing resources through the Retail Trust, including confidential counselling for themselves and their families, manager training, discounts and rewards, and a virtual GP service for colleagues in the UK.

Mountain Warehouse will also use the Retail Trust’s happiness dashboard, a generative artificial intelligence (AI)-powered platform that tracks wellbeing trends, highlights mental health pressures, and measures the effectiveness of support.

Karen Bandoh, people director at the Mountain Group, said: “We’re incredibly excited to launch this new partnership and to stand alongside more than 200 of the UK’s leading retailers in a united effort to drive meaningful change.

“Providing better, free, and confidential support services to our colleagues around the world is a vital step in helping them grow in their careers while caring for their wellbeing and their families. After all, life’s mountains don’t end at the store door.

“This partnership also gives us a strong platform to advocate for better conditions across the sector and to make a lasting, positive impact.”

Bandoh added: “We’re proud to be part of the change the Retail Trust is leading.”

Chris Brook-Carter, CEO of the Retail Trust, said: “Mountain Warehouse is one of the world’s leading outdoor retailers, so this new partnership will bring the Retail Trust’s support to thousands more retail colleagues both in the UK and internationally.

“This is an important time for any retail employer to invest in their people’s wellbeing, especially ahead of the increased footfall and sales expected during the autumn and winter months.

“We’re working closely with Mountain Warehouse to identify those most in need of support and to ensure every colleague understands how to protect and manage their wellbeing.”
