First Bus, London North Eastern Railway (LNER), and Steer were named among the top organisations in the 2025 Women in Transport Equity Index.

The research found that some transport subsectors had made progress on gender equity, but others still struggled with consistent policies and practices.

First Bus was recognised for increasing female representation across its workforce and leadership.

LNER achieved a 71.5% score for gender equity, with strong results in leadership and career development for women.

Steer was highlighted for its diversity recruitment strategy and mentorship opportunities.

Other sector winners included Wm Armstrong for logistics, Mintra for maritime, Campaign for Better Transport for cross-sector work, Sustrans for cycling, and West Yorkshire Combined Authority for Government and NGO.

Each organisation showed measurable progress on gender equity, with policies supporting flexible working, pay parity, and more women in senior roles.

The index found that clear targets, consistent implementation, and transparency were key factors in successful outcomes.
