Southern Water has signed a five-year contract with Novuna Vehicle Solutions, which will see its company cars replaced with electric vehicles (EVs) and plug-in hybrids (PHEVs).
The contract, worth £33m, will also see EV charging points installed at 36 work sites, as well as the homes of certain employees, with the first chargers to be installed at the Durrington and Falmer offices.
Martin Lock, fleet manager at Southern Water, said: “Novuna’s commitment to sustainability aligns with our company’s ambitions.
“Their expertise in decarbonisation, especially across commercial vehicles, will be vital as we design and build the charging infrastructure required to move our fleet towards net zero.”
Southern Water’s fleet currently consists of 749 vans, 200 company cars, and 205 specialist vehicles, such as trucks and fork-lifts.
While permanent EV infrastructure is designed and installed, moveable rapid chargers will be rolled out across Southern Water’s sites, enabling EVs to be charged in the meantime.
Jon Lawes, managing director at Novuna Vehicle Solutions, said: “We’re proud to partner once again with Southern Water and play a key role in supporting their decarbonisation agenda.
“With a robust infrastructure rollout and dedicated support across all fleet classes, we’re committed to deliver a real impact and value to Southern Water demonstrating our unique end-to-end capabilities to future proof their business operations.”
Novuna will also deliver fleet management services to Southern Water.
