JTL is holding an open day at its Birmingham training centre on 16th August, inviting local employers and school leavers to find out more about electrical and plumbing apprenticeships.
This forms part of the national campaign, ‘Powering Apprenticeships. Fuelling Your Career’, aimed at encouraging school leavers to consider an apprenticeship in the skilled trades.
The event will run from 10am to 2pm.
Visitors can tour the workshops and classrooms at the centre and meet staff including Chris Claydon, CEO at JTL and delivery team manager Neil Hammersley.
Tutors and training officers will be on hand to answer questions about apprenticeships and career development.
There will be practical ‘have-a-go’ sessions and a dedicated employer-apprentice match area for businesses to connect directly with potential apprentices.
Local businesses will also be exhibiting as part of a mini trade fair.
Employers can get support on apprenticeship funding, onboarding and the benefits of work-based training.
Hammersley said: “We’re really looking forward to opening our doors to new and existing employers, prospective apprentices and the wider community here in Birmingham.
“The Open Day is about giving people the chance to see our training centre in action – to speak with tutors, try out practical skills and understand how apprenticeships can support careers and grow businesses.
“Whether you’re new to apprenticeships or already working with us, this is a fantastic opportunity to connect and explore what’s possible.”
The open day coincides with the launch of JTL’s latest apprentice recruitment campaign running across July and August.
The campaign targets school leavers, parents, carers and careers advisers, offering apprenticeships as an alternative to university or college.
Claydon said: “This is a crucial moment for young people as they make decisions about their future.
“Our new apprentice recruitment campaign is designed to help them see the value of a career in the skilled trades – not just as a job, but as a long-term, rewarding profession.
“Apprenticeships offer real-world experience, qualifications and a strong foundation for success.”
Claydon added: “We want school leavers and their families to know that with JTL, they’ll be supported every step of the way.”
