Over 300 people from Lowestoft and the surrounding area attended the first Sizewell C jobs fair of the year this week, looking for information about work on the nuclear power project.
The event was organised by Sizewell C and the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and was held at East Coast College.
A range of suppliers from the Sizewell C supply chain were present, offering information about current and future jobs on the Suffolk coast.
Last year, Sizewell C and Jess Asato MP signed an agreement to deliver at least 500 clean energy jobs for Lowestoft during the project’s construction.
The company has supported this pledge by running jobs fairs and posting adverts in local media.
Stuart Allsopp, jobs service lead at Sizewell C, said: “Lowestoft is a really important town for us and this was another great opportunity to be visible in the town and make people aware of the incredible opportunities Sizewell C offers.
“There were well over three hundred people here today – and it really goes to show the appetite for opportunities in this area.
“People were able to find out about all the latest and future career opportunities on the project, and it was an excellent platform to network, gather information, and find out how to take their first steps onto the Sizewell C project.”
