
AI adoption in home building set to boost jobs, not cut them, report finds

Over half of employers (58%) expected to add permanent staff by the summer, up from 50% in the second half of 2023.

Its Level 2 Roofer Apprenticeship will launch in September 2026, aiming to help tackle the shortage of skilled roofers in the area.

The qualifications are designed to support entry into roles including technicians working on AI-enabled health devices such as wearable technology, imaging and diagnostic tools, as well as regulatory advisers.

According to data, without more investment in training, the Government’s Warm Homes Plan to upgrade five million homes by 2030 is at risk.

The company said the shortage could hit supply chain, productivity, and national infrastructure services.

Two-thirds of surveyors said an ageing workforce and high retirement rates were main causes, and new recruits were not coming in fast enough.

Mike Reader MP said the current approach of school talks and work experience programmes was not enough to tackle the skills shortage.
