E.ON and Sheffield-based homeless charity the Archer Project have agreed to work together to support green skills and job pathways in Sheffield.

The collaboration will focus on developing opportunities in green jobs and skills through volunteering and employment, linked to E.ON’s plans to expand its district heating scheme in the city and wider energy solutions work.

The Archer Project operates from Sheffield Cathedral and supports people experiencing homelessness in the area.

The partnership aims to deliver fair access to green jobs and support sustainability and energy resilience in the local community.

Jean Michel Bellas, strategic relationship lead at E.ON for Blackburn Meadows and Sheffield’s Heat Network Programme, said: “Our collaboration with the Archer Project is designed to be another part of our commitment to inclusivity and fair access to opportunities in the growing green energy sector.

“We hope this initiative will empower individuals through meaningful training and mentoring to develop the skills they need for the new energy world, offering a sense of purpose and opportunity while helping to advance sustainable energy for Sheffield.”

Under the agreement, E.ON will also provide guidance to the centre on low carbon solutions such as solar panels and heat pumps to help it run more efficiently.

Joe Logan, head of fundraising at the Archer Project, said: “We are incredibly excited about our future working in partnership with E.ON.

“This collaboration gives us the opportunity to explore new ways of creating positive change across our community.

“Together, we will open new pathways of progression for people experiencing homelessness and in turn, empower individuals to live happier, more fulfilling lives.”
