The Civil Nuclear Constabulary’s (CNC’s) recruitment push to attract officers to Dounreay has been shortlisted for a major national employer-branding award.

The ‘Relocate to Dounreay’ campaign, created with branding agency Penna, is a finalist in the Creative Idea category at the RAD Awards, which recognise innovation and impact in recruitment marketing.

Other shortlisted employers include Nando’s, Asda, Ford and Aegon, with winners to be announced in January.

The campaign was designed to support hiring into the Dounreay Operational Policing Unit by focusing on the distinctive lifestyle and employment offer available in Caithness.

Aimed at candidates drawn to outdoor living, it showcased the region’s mountains, beaches, Northern Lights, and opportunities for running and cycling.

To underline the realities of the job and location, serving Dounreay officers acted as brand ambassadors, appearing in campaign photography that showed their lives outside work.

The CNC said this approach helped provide a clearer picture of the community, environment and work-life balance associated with the roles.

Dani Whiting, senior manager for talent acquisition, said: “Being shortlisted for an industry-leading award alongside international brands is a fantastic achievement and a testament to the commitment and dedication of the recruitment team in delivering an innovative and high-quality campaign to support the Dounreay OPU recruitment strategy.

“This recognition reflects the collaboration, passion, and authenticity that went into delivering a campaign that truly represents life at Dounreay.

“I’d like to extend my thanks to the officers who took part, and to Emma Lindsay for her dedication and support throughout the project.”
