HubStar has acquired Spica Technologies in a deal aimed at speeding up the move to smarter, people-focused hybrid workplaces.

The deal brings together HubStar’s artificial intelligence (AI)-driven planning and employee engagement tools with Spica’s workplace experience and IoT technology, offering a single platform for organisations wanting to manage space, costs, emissions and staff needs at the same time.

By joining forces, HubStar and Spica will now provide a unified system that covers workplace experience, operational data and AI-based planning.

Their combined visitor management will cover everything from pre-registration and access control to lobby check-in and contractor management, all through one platform.

Customers can now bring separate workplace systems under one roof, speed up results and keep their real estate plans in line with what hybrid teams need.

Steve Vatidis, executive chairman at HubStar, said: “Today’s workplace leaders are tasked with balancing three imperatives: reducing costs, creating exceptional employee experiences and advancing sustainability goals.

“This acquisition addresses all three challenges head-on.

“By bringing together Spica’s human-centric design and IoT integration capabilities with HubStar’s unique approach to always-on spatial intelligence, we are creating a new category leader that empowers organizations to thrive in our new era of dynamic workplace management.”

The move will also see HubStar’s platform take on Spica’s existing partners and clients, expanding its network and services.

Vatidis added: “Spica has always believed the workplace should be more than just a location – it should be a desirable destination that empowers people.

“Together, we are uniquely positioned to deliver both the intelligence and the experiences that define the future of work, while enabling workplace leaders to raise the bar in workplace performance amidst volatility.”
