iRG Repair Group, Wales’ largest group of vehicle repair centres, has partnered with non-profit organisation JUST ONE Tree to support global reforestation and ecosystem restoration projects.

The group will make donations for every staff birth and birthday, as well as for every five-star customer review received across its sites in Bridgend, Cardiff, Merthyr, Newport, Pontypridd and Hereford.

Funds raised will contribute to tree planting and marine restoration projects in 16 countries, aimed at reducing global warming and supporting sustainable incomes for local communities.

JUST ONE Tree has already overseen the planting of more than five million trees and the restoration of 2,600 acres, removing an estimated 1.6m tonnes of CO2 from the atmosphere.

Its education initiatives also involve 240,000 children worldwide through JUST ONE Tree Day on 17th October.

Amanda Bronkhorst, founder and chief executive of JUST ONE Tree, said: “This is the moment to be bold, to be brave – our planet’s future is in our hands. iRG has stepped up, joining forces with us to show that action speaks louder than words.

“When we stand together, we have the power to transform the world – and every business, every individual who joins this movement makes our impact on people and planet unstoppable.”

iRG achieved carbon neutrality earlier this year under PAS 2060 and is preparing to transition to the new Accident Repair Industry Environmental Standard.

The company has introduced a series of measures to reduce its environmental footprint, including electric spraybooths, variable-speed compressors, cardboard compactors, LED lighting with sensors, digital stationery, and reusable workshop materials.

Lee Wallbank, managing director at iRG, said: “At iRG, we take our corporate social responsibility seriously and are committed long-term to reducing our impact on the environment.

“We are constantly looking at ways that we can make our operations greener and there will be no let-up in our sustainability drive which will continue to be a priority for our business going forward.

“JUST ONE Tree’s efforts to restore the planet’s eco-system is a vital cause. We’re delighted to join with them and hope our customers will support our partnership by leaving a five-star review if they feel able to via the usual channels.”
