Essex County Council’s digital health check scheme for workers has passed 1,000 checks across 23 businesses.
The programme began earlier this year in the South, with health check stations set up in businesses across Basildon and Brentwood.
The free, self-service stations from SiSU Health UK allowed workers to check blood pressure, heart rate, BMI and stress levels in a few minutes.
The stations also gave information on free support from the Essex Wellbeing Service, community pharmacy, or a local GP.
Out of over 1,000 checks, 357 people went on to use further support services, including help to quit smoking and for weight management.
The scheme is supported by the Mid and South Essex Integrated Care Partnership.
Baker Labels in Brentwood also took part in the scheme.
Steve Baker, managing director at Baker Labels, said: “The digital health checks have been incredibly well received by our team.
“It’s a simple, quick way to check overall health and supports our commitment to a healthy workplace.”
Councillor John Spence, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, Adult Social Care, Public Health and Integration at Essex County Council, visited Baker Labels to see the checks in action.
Spence said: “Healthy workforces are happy and competitive workforces. Businesses that sign up to this scheme are truly enlightened.
“Baker Labels is a shining example of how investing in staff wellbeing boosts productivity and reduces health inequalities.”
The scheme is part of Essex County Council’s Workplace Health Programme and is now being expanded across the county.
Businesses can host a station for up to four weeks, making it easier for staff to get health checks without booking a GP appointment.
Lyn Mowforth, manager of Essex Working Well, said: “We are proud to be supporting this innovative approach to workplace health.
“The digital health check stations not only give people the chance to spot potential health risks early but also connect them directly to free support and advice.
“It’s a practical, accessible way of helping colleagues take control of their wellbeing, and we are delighted to see so many businesses embracing it.”
