Hendy Group is close to completing the recruitment of 20 new general managers as part of a major operational restructure aimed at supporting its transition to a regional model introduced on 1st April.
The new structure divides Hendy’s operations into three geographic divisions – Central, West and East – to drive collaboration, streamline efficiencies and strengthen the customer experience. Each general manager will oversee the day-to-day running of sites within their division, reporting to one of three regional operational directors.
With over 60 locations in its retail portfolio, the move marks a significant investment in operational leadership. Hendy received more than 450 applications for the new roles, attracting both existing team members and external applicants from across the South Coast.
Sarah Martyn, director of people & organisational development at Hendy Group, said: “Hendy currently employs over 1,500 colleagues and we strive to provide much more than a job; we offer a long-term career option to anyone willing to collaborate to create a high-performance culture and an environment for all colleagues to thrive and encourages everyone to make the most of our world-class learning and development experience.”
“While we were thrilled to appoint some of the general manager roles through internal promotions, we welcome the fresh ideas and new perspectives that external candidates can bring,” she added.
Founded in 1859, Hendy Group has grown from a small Hampshire business into a prominent automotive retailer representing 23 brands.
Paul Hendy, CEO of Hendy Group, said: “This is such an exciting time for Hendy as we power up for the next stage of growth. We may have been going for 166 years, but this transition makes it feel like we are only just getting started.”
“The new regional operating model is already opening up fresh opportunities for the Group, allowing us to maximise our performance and deliver more of the positive customer outcomes for which Hendy is renowned.”
