OSB Group will mark national ‘Learning at Work Week’ with several skills sessions including ‘empowering your career’ and ‘cultivating confidence’.

The company will also promote its in-house training as part of its aim to become a skills-based organisation and support career growth.

Jack Cope (pictured), BDM at OSB Group, has been with the group for nearly four years and said he has benefited from these learning and development opportunities.

After finishing his A-levels, Cope joined the broker liaison team where he gained experience in specialist residential and buy to let lending.

As part of OSB Group’s training, Cope spent a day with a field-based business development manager, which led him to make a development plan.

With his manager’s support, Cope identified areas to improve and after 10 months moved into an office-based business development manager role.

Cope said the skills he learned in the new job, including broker support and case management, helped him to progress again.

Two years later, he moved into a field-based business development manager position covering south-east England.

Since joining OSB Group, Cope has been promoted twice and now supports brokers and customers with financial solutions from Precise and Kent Reliance for Intermediaries.

Cope has also mentored colleagues interested in learning about his role.

Cope said: “I feel very fortunate to work for a company that is so invested in professional development and actively encourages progression.

“OSB Group provide a range of support and resources such as coaching, mentoring and a fantastic in-house training programme which have really helped me to drive my career forward.

“I’m looking forward to successfully completing my CeMAP qualification as my next goal which means I’ll be able to offer even more value to my brokers which is always my focus.”

Simon Cockerill, group head of intermediary sales at OSB Group, said: “From the outset, Jack’s personality and enthusiasm has been evident and he quickly recognised the opportunities available to grow and develop at OSB Group.

“Jack has always been clear on his ambition to progress, showing strong drive to succeed through his own self-motivation.

“In the time Jack has been at OSB Group, his performance and results have been outstanding and it has been clear in feedback from brokers just how much value he adds.”
