A new study by Ivanti has revealed a significant disparity between the demand for flexible work arrangements and their availability.
The 2024 Everywhere Work report shows that while 80% of professionals value flexibility in their jobs, only 25% feel their roles offer high flexibility. This gap suggests that prioritising flexible work could provide a competitive advantage in attracting and retaining top talent.
Jeff Abbott, CEO of Ivanti, stressed the importance of equipping employees with the necessary resources and infrastructure to successfully implement flexible work arrangements. “Employers seeking to hire top talent should prioritize workplace flexibility, as it has a clear business advantage,” he said.
Key findings from the report include:
- Flexible work options are more valued than the ability to work remotely, with 80% of professionals preferring flexibility over the option to work from anywhere, which 70% valued.
- Women are more likely to prioritise flexible work, with 36% considering it essential, compared to 22% of men.
- There is a disconnect between leadership perceptions and IT and security team realities, with 46% of IT and security professionals finding it challenging to access necessary tech tools remotely.
The report also addresses the low adoption rates of AI and automation within workplaces, despite 76% of respondents acknowledging that these technologies could reduce ticket volumes and improve service delivery.
