PensionBee is urging savers to sign a petition to speed up pension transfers before the deadline on 24th January 2026.

The online retirement savings provider said the petition has 9,000 signatures and needs 1,000 more for the Government to respond.

Research found many savers still face long waits, with pension transfers sometimes taking weeks, months or even years.

The petition includes calls for digital transfers across all schemes, a 10-day pension switch guarantee, published transfer data, changes to scams legislation, and a reduction of the statutory six month transfer deadline.

Lisa Picardo (pictured), chief business officer UK at PensionBee, said: “Too many people are still left in limbo when they try to move their pension and take control of their retirement.

“In a world where switching bank accounts can take days, pension transfers that drag on for months simply don’t make any sense.

“This petition is about giving savers a voice and showing there is strong public support for a faster, fairer system.”

Picardo added: “With the deadline fast approaching, this is the last chance for people to sign and help push for a better system that works in the best interests of consumers.”
