British Dressage has partnered with Coleg Cambria to expand apprenticeship opportunities for young equestrians in Wales.

The British Dressage Apprenticeship is now available to those aged 16 and over living and working in Wales, building on previous delivery in England and Scotland.

The programme provides nationally recognised qualifications in a practical, work-based setting.

Coleg Cambria offers qualifications from Foundation Level 2 up to Level 4 Apprenticeship.

The courses include Level 2 Equine, Horse Care, Riding and Coaching; Level 3 Equine, Horse Care, Riding, Breeding and Coaching; and Level 4 Senior Care, Riding and Management.

Apprentices receive tailored guidance and assessment according to their credits and subjects.

Learners follow a programme based on their interests and career goals, supported by Coleg Cambria and gaining hands-on experience at a British Dressage approved workplace.

Charlotte Osborne, head of development at British Dressage, said: “I’m thrilled to welcome Coleg Cambria as a partner for the British Dressage Apprenticeship programme.

“We’re committed to providing an inclusive, accessible route into equestrian sport – unlocking these opportunities in Wales is the next step to achieving this goal.

“Our team is very much looking forward to working with Coleg Cambria to welcome new learners to the programme and support them throughout their journey.”

Katy Davies, work-based practitioner at Coleg Cambria, said: “We are looking forward to support those residing in Wales along their path in the equestrian industry.

“Partnering with British Dressage is an exciting move and we hope that this will help promote networking and opportunities for those seeing a career in the dressage industry.

“We hope that this collaboration will encourage our developing workforce and promote continuous learning whilst gaining valuable hands-on industry experience.”
