Market Financial Solutions is increasing its focus on employee wellbeing and supporting the next generation of financial services professionals after new research revealed widespread concerns about working in the sector.

The London-based lender surveyed UK adults and found that many view financial services as stressful, rigid or difficult, with work-life balance ranking as a key priority when considering career options.

The findings come as the lender enhances its wellbeing initiatives to better support employees.

This year Market Financial Solutions has implemented mental health training for staff and appointed accredited mental health first aiders, who will offer initial support and guidance.

The lender said these steps are part of its commitment to building a workplace where employees have the resources they need to thrive and where careers in financial services are accessible to a wide and diverse range of people.

Earlier in the year the lender sponsored the Mortgage Industry Mental Health Charter Charity Ball, an alcohol-free event designed to raise awareness of mental health issues in financial services.

Market Financial Solutions said taking part in the event reflected its focus on providing the tools, training and environment required to build long-term careers in the sector.

Paresh Raja, CEO of Market Financial Solutions, said: “The world of work is constantly evolving, as are the wants and needs of the working population.

“Unfortunately, our research revealed that many people are put off from working in financial services due to the perceived stress or stuffiness involved – it is a reminder that we have to keep striving to be better and break down barriers.

“At Market Financial Solutions, our priority is to ensure our team, and all future employees, have the support and resources they need to thrive in their career.

“We also want to do our part in encouraging a new generation of professionals to consider entering the sector.

“The MIMHC Charity Ball in October highlighted some of the issues at play and the importance of raising awareness of mental health issues within our sector and beyond.

“That’s why we’re doubling down on the support we’re providing staff, from introducing new training and wellbeing initiatives to creating an environment where people can grow and build sustainable careers.

“We are committed to continuing this work and to finding ways to support our colleagues while opening pathways into the sector.”
