Broadstone has appointed Karen Graves to its board as non-executive director, effective from 1st November 2025, as the firm continues to expand its presence within the UK insurance sector.
Graves brings more than 30 years of experience in the Lloyd’s and London insurance markets, having started her career in compliance before progressing to chief operations officer and then managing director at a Lloyd’s managing agency. She has also held senior positions with a global reinsurer supporting EMEA operations.
Alongside her commercial and regulatory background, Graves currently serves as chair of GreenKite, a professional services firm operating in the UK insurance market, and as an independent non-executive director on the boards of USAA SA, Allied World Managing Agency and Accelerant UK, where she chairs the risk committees.
Her appointment follows the addition of Bill Pedersen as non-executive director in May 2025 and aligns with Broadstone’s continued focus on growth across the life, general and Lloyd’s and London markets. This strategy is supported by the investment completed by Lovell Minnick Partners in March 2025, which provides resources to enhance Broadstone’s insurance capabilities and market footprint.
Tony Gusmao, chief executive at Broadstone, said: “Karen brings invaluable leadership experience in the insurance market at a time when we are looking to accelerate growth in this segment. Building on the appointment of Bill Pedersen and fresh capital backing, Broadstone is well-positioned to continue on an exciting growth trajectory.”
Karen Graves said: “Broadstone has ambitious strategic objectives and exceptional potential for further expansion across the insurance markets that I have worked in for over three decades. I look forward to adding my specialist knowledge and helping the business develop its differentiated market proposition to deliver continued and long-lasting success.”
