Sparks Commercial Services (SCS), part of the Renault Trucks dealer network, has officially opened a new head office, van centre and electric vehicle (EV) education centre in Southampton.

The multi-million-pound investment has created 25 jobs and strengthens the family-run company’s presence in the south of England.

The new flagship site on Redbridge Causeway at the end of the M271 will act as SCS’s central hub for new and used LCV and truck sales, with a dedicated van workshop complementing its existing HGV facility located nearby.

The official opening on 4th September welcomed customers, media and local businesses, with senior Renault Trucks executives in attendance, including president Bruno Blin, Christophe Deshayes, senior vice president for Europe, and Carlos Rodrigues, managing director for the UK and Ireland.

At the core of the new headquarters is the EV education centre, designed to support operators, businesses and drivers with the transition to more sustainable transport. It features interactive displays, workshops and tailored advice, reinforcing SCS’s role in helping customers plan their decarbonisation journey.

Julie Spark, director and co-founder of SCS, said: “Our new van centre is a huge step forward for Sparks Commercials.

“It not only gives us a modern, purpose-built home, but also enables us to play a leading role in supporting our customers as they transition to more sustainable transport.

“The EV Education Centre is central to that vision – giving van operators the tools, knowledge and confidence they need to make informed choices about electric vehicles.”

The site offers Renault Trucks vehicles from 2.8 to 44 tonnes, along with MOT testing for Classes 4, 5 and 7, computerised brake roller testing, diagnostic facilities for all makes, a dedicated parts service, and support from Renault Trucks-trained technicians with 24/7 roadside assistance.

Rodrigues said: “The new Sparks Commercial Services Van Centre is an outstanding example of how our dealer partners are investing in the future of transport.

“The EV Education Centre in particular highlights the importance of education and support in helping our customers achieve their electrification goals.

“Sparks’ investment demonstrates real leadership within the Renault Trucks network and we are proud to celebrate this milestone with them.”

The development also marks Sparks’ entry into the B2C retail market and forms part of its strategy to expand dedicated van centres as the business continues to grow.
