Half of workers are skipping essential health, safety and environmental (HSE) training, data from the Astutis ‘Voice of Our Learners’ report found.

The survey showed just 28% are currently using artificial intelligence (AI) tools in their work, with over 80% not using wearable technology such as smart personal protective equipment (PPE) or monitoring devices.

52% of respondents said employee attitudes were the biggest obstacle to HSE success.

Supporting mental health and well-being training is still a major challenge for 30% of those surveyed.

Steve Terry, managing director at Astutis, said: “This year’s report confirms that our industry is at a pivotal moment.

“On one hand, we see exciting new tools like AI and wearable tech emerging – but they’re not yet taking hold in most organisations.

“On the other hand, long-standing challenges, such as gaining employee buy-in and addressing mental well-being, remain at the forefront.”

Terry added: “The opportunity for HSE leaders now is to blend innovative solutions with a people-centric approach so we can create safer, healthier, more sustainable workplaces for the future.”
