Deel has announced the launch of its AI Workforce, a new platform feature designed to help companies create, launch and manage AI agents that can support HR and payroll functions.
The move comes as industry surveys highlight growing strain on HR teams, with SHRM’s latest Workforce Report finding that more than half of HR professionals believe their teams are understaffed.
The AI Workforce aims to provide employers with access to a set of pre-built agents targeted at specific tasks such as recruitment, compliance, scheduling, offboarding and payroll checks.
The firm said the technology can relieve administrative pressure by processing approvals, identifying compliance risks, and surfacing information to managers to support faster decision-making.
Launching in beta, the service allows customers to deploy these agents across HR, payroll, finance and operations.
Deel said each agent draws on the expertise of more than 2,000 in-country specialists and is capable of operating in over 150 countries.
Employers will also have the option to build custom agents tailored to their requirements.
Future development of the platform is expected to include integration with workplace tools such as Slack and Zapier, allowing businesses to embed AI agents into existing workflows.
Deel said it anticipates that over time AI agents will become a standard part of workforce structures, supporting human employees by taking on repetitive processes.
Alex Bouaziz, Deel’s co-founder and chief executive, said: “AI agents mark a turning point for global work. For HR and payroll leaders that means going above simply automating tasks.
“It’s about baking AI into already-used and loved technology to remove the barriers that slow teams down.
“This will allow human creativity, ideas, talent, and opportunities to move as freely as the businesses they power.”
